We're not a PvP guild, we dabble now and again. We've tried rated battlegrounds before....it didn't end well, so much so that we've not tried it for at least a year or so. Last night we suited up and gave it another go.
First off....it went as I'd expected, a lovely game of Twin Peaks and we managed to get one kill on the enemy before they totally slaughtered us 3 flags to nil. But we persevered, much character swapping ensued and we attempted to find our feet.
A couple of games in, Avenger - self-proclaimed expert of PvP "I used to be in an RBG guild dontcha know!" showed up and joined us....and I have to say it helped a lot. Knowing where to be, what to call, when to call it, when to run, and when to defend - it's a fine PvP art that most of us aren't quite up to speed with, or at least rather rusty on.
With Avenger leading the charge things started to pick up, we still lost, but we were losing without utter humiliation, and games were beginning to feel a bit more balanced. Around 2 hours in, Aldo joined us and decided it was time for an epsode of TOWIA (The Only Way is Aldo). With his booming Essex voice, he kicked us into shape, and together Aldo and Avenger led us to victory - YES VICTORY IN A RATED BATTLEGROUND! What's even more awesome is that the guild got an acheievement for this historic first win!
We then went on to win another game, and called it a night, basking in our success :)
I for one really rather enjoyed last night, it was a great break from PvE and rekindled my interest in my resto druid. Chatting afterwards, it seems others enjoyed it too. So, there's another RBG night scheduled for next week - on MONDAY! This is to avoid the clash with the Halloween event on Tuesday. If interest remains, we'll keep this up at least till the next raid tier.
Well done everyone!!
